Celebrating the Talented Students Within the Exceptional Proficiency Program
Foxcroft's Exceptional Proficiency (EP) program was created in the mid-1990s when rising show jumping star Alison Firestone Robitaille ’95 spent the winter in Florida to train and compete. Since then, this unique program is often associated with the School's standout riders, but it isn’t just for equestrian athletes. This year 23 students with a multitude of talents and ambitions are participating in the program. Read more about some of their accomplishments below.
It has been a busy season for our Exceptional Proficiency equestrians. We recently reported on the riders who train under Director of Riding Kate Worsham; in total, 13 talented riders (Virginia B. ’22, Caroline B. ’22, Cierra C. ’25, Molly C. ’23, Margaret F. ’23, Isa G. ’23, Fiona H. ’24, Sydney M. ’23, Wilhelmina M. ’23, Lucia M. R. ’25, Sofia M. R. ’23, Georgia R. ’22, and Telina T. ’24) use the EP program to show at a high level around the country. Among them, four-event riders traveled to Aiken, SC, for various competitions where they participated in the three phases of eventing — dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country jumping; eight Hunter Jumper riders competed at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL; and one additional Hunter Jumper competed at the World Equestrian Center In Ocala, FL. From competing out of state at weekend tournaments to taking the stage in regional theater productions, all Exceptional Proficiency participants make the most of the flexibility and opportunities within the program. Each EP student reported that the time spent focusing on their chosen area of interest was a major step in the advancement of their skills. It is important to note that these students not only juggle a demanding competition schedule but must also keep up with the high academic standards expected of every student at Foxcroft. We commend each one of our EP students for the challenging work they have taken on this year and for the positive way in which they have represented both themselves and their School!
