Another Wonderful Fox/Hound Weekend Ends with a Win, a Loss, and a Tie for Each Team!

All week long the word had been circulating: Big Game is going to be a very competitive contest this year. The Foxes have eight varsity field hockey players, including the goaltender and two of the top defensive players, and they are ready.

Then Fox Olivia D. '20 won New Girl Runnings and, just minutes into Big Game, the Foxes scored first, on a goal from one of those varsity players, Fox Big Team captain Amara B. '19. Maybe this really was the Foxes' year!

Or maybe not. Hound Big Team captain Seabrook B. '19 tied the score and with about eight minutes left in the half, fellow captain Haley B. '19 flicked a penalty shot into the upper left corner to put the Hounds ahead. For good. Final score: Hounds 5, Foxes 1.

But the game was closer than that score indicates. It was played well and hard with much skill evident on both sides. In the end, the dynamic duo of juniors Haley B. and Seabrook B. — who led the Varsity Team with 30 and 24 goals, respectively — were just too much for the Foxes. They did what they do best, scoring two goals each, and Bella B. '19 added the final tally.

Fox Big Team captain Amara B. '19, scored for the Foxes.

Earlier, Little Game ended in a 1-1 tie.

All week long — as well before and after each event Saturday — the true spirit of Fox/Hound dominated. Fun, spirit, hard work, and student-run tryouts and practices built connections and memories that will last much longer than the memory of any game score.

Go Foxes! Go Hounds!
