Foxcroft's First "Diversi-Tea" Scheduled for Friday of Centennial Weekend

Foxcroft's first "Diversi-Tea," a celebration of Foxcroft's history of diversity, will be held Friday, April 25 at 4:30 pm in Roomies (Athletic/Student Center, aka Activities). All are welcome.

The range of background, homelands, experience, and perspectives represented in our community is an important component of the Foxcroft experience. By living together, learning together, playing together, and serving together, we develop, over time, the ability to connect and relate across all sorts of differences.

To RSVP for the Diversi-Tea, please contact the Development Office at 540.687.4510 or email centennial@foxcroft.org.
This special Centennial event, which we are calling a "Diversi-Tea" (Teas are a Foxcroft tradition, after all!), is meant to celebrate the many individuals over the past 100 years who have shared their differences as well as those who have been enriched by them. Alumnae of all ages, as well as current students, will have an opportunity to reflect and connect across our many national, religious, ethnic, and racial differences, celebrating what they all have in common Foxcroft.

"There are so many girls who have arrived at Foxcroft and tried to figure out how they fit into this place,” says Adriane Williams ’94, one of the co-chairs of the Centennial Engaging Constituencies and Diversity Committee, which helped organize the event. “Girls from all over the world have contributed to the School's history and growth.

“As a Black student, I was incredibly curious about the racial dynamics at Foxcroft,” she adds. “I was also curious to know how long there had been black students on campus. In 1988 it all seemed new to the place. I didn’t know about the Class of 1973 [Foxcroft’s first integrated class] until much later.

“The Centennial provides us an opportunity to tell the story of our presence on campus across the decades."
