Foxcroft vs. Fredericksburg Academy

Foxcroft wins big on scorching hot day
The Foxcroft Varsity Soccer Team was back in action against a conference opponent on the hottest day of the year so far. The team fought hard through the heat and came out on top with a 5-1 win.

Players rotated on and off the field quickly to allow players to cool down and recover from the heat. This made it hard for the team to get a consistent rhythm, but they were still able to control most of the game. Our first goal of the game came on a great through ball that allowed Emilia Gropper to outpace the defense and put the ball in the bottom left corner. Our next goal came when Ava Rudy was able to work her way through the defense and take an excellent shot on goal. Bracha Warui score the third goal when she capitalized on a scramble inside the 18-yard box. Lily McCrehin added to her impressive tally of goals when she scored on a well hit free kick towards the end of the half.

In the second half players continued to rotate quickly and many players played out of position. The team surrendered a penalty kick that allowed FA to score their lone goal. Foxcroft's final goal came on an own goal on a corner hit by Bracha

Overall it was an impressive performance for a team where many players played out of position and for different amounts of time than they are used to. They were able to withstand the heat and come out on top.

The team wraps up their regular season with our Senior Night against Quantico.
