Foxcroft vs. Tandem Friends

Foxcroft finishes tough week with a conference win over Tandem Friends.
Foxcroft capped off a week where they played four games in five days with a conference victory over Tandem Friends on Friday night. The tired legs were apparent on the fast slick surface, but the team was able to pull together to put away two goals.

The first goal of the game came from Bracha Warui. On a long ball played by Maddie Kaplan, Bracha was able to outrun the defense and slot the ball past the keeper. Foxcroft had plenty of possession and scoring chances in the first half but this is the only one the team was able to capitalize on. We went into the halftime break with a 1-0 lead.

After halftime the team made some needed adjustments and looked to be in even more control of the game. Our two forwards Emilia Gropper and Ava Rudy linked up brilliantly halfway through in order to give us a two goal advantage. Emilia ran the ball all the way down the right hand side of the field and crossed the ball to Ava who was able to put it in the back of the net.

Tandem was able to claw one goal back on a free kick with about 10 minutes left to go in the half. They increased their intensity after the goal, but Foxcroft was able to hold on for the win. Shout out to Kyla Peterson who had to play out of position for the entirety of the second half in order to mark a speedy forward that Tandem threw up top.

Foxcroft continues their conference schedule with an away game against Randolph-Macon on Tuesday. Foxcroft came away with a 2-0 win in the first meeting and we hope to replicate that success on the road.
