"The Hamilton Conspiracies" Brings Mystery and Intrigue to FoxHound Auditorium

By Manabi K. ’25

On January 11, the Foxcroft Mainstage and Technical Theater classes took the stage for the first of three performances of The Hamilton Conspiracies. Written by Terry Smith from Ashburn, Virginia’s StageCoach Theatre, The Hamilton Conspiracies is a gripping murder mystery that delves into the intriguing web of theories surrounding the untimely demise of Alexander Hamilton.
The play begins with a reenactment of the death of Hamilton, then follows the different suspects, including his wife Eliza Hamilton (Moriah F. ’24), his sister-in-law Angelica Schuyler (Emmy Q. ’24), president Thomas Jefferson (Anna C. ’25), his mistress Maria Reynolds (Ava D. ’26), his blackmailer James Reynolds (Anila S. ’25), and his political rival James Monroe (Ava B. ’24).

The Mainstage and Technical Theatre classes delivered a great piece of historical fiction. Foxcroft added its own adaptations with moments of comedy in addition to performing the original dialogue. The play was a captivating experience, with great performances and the stationary set of Hamilton’s home transporting audiences back in time.

Especially interesting was the audience participation aspect of this play. After the events unfolded, the audience was asked at the end of the second act to identify the murder suspect. Each night yielded a different result — on Thursday, those in attendance thought James Monroe was the guilty party, followed by Thomas Jefferson (Friday night) and Angelica Schuyler (Saturday night).

Thank you to those who came and supported the performing arts, including our special guests from the Blue Ridge Cappies. Over 40 students from other high schools in Loudoun County attended as part of the Cappies program and will soon share their written reviews of Foxcroft’s production.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the play, and a special thank you to the Parents’ Association, Mr. Lyons, StageCoach Theatre, and, of course, our Director, Mrs. Thorndike. Bravo to the entire cast and crew for an amazing show!
