Athletic Acclaim for Fall Sports Athletes

The Athletic Association and Athletic Department, together with the Parents’ Association (PA), hosted a wonderful Fall Sports Awards ceremony Monday evening celebrating Foxcroft’s teams and accomplishments. Athletic Association senior heads Caroline C., Eva C., and Emma L. and junior assistant heads Patty A., Flora W., Lily M., and Frankie W. emceed the entire evening. After the ceremony, students were treated to tasty desserts organized by the Parents’ Association (PA).
During the program, cross country, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball team members received certificates, and varsity athletes got their letters. Each coach said a few words about their team’s season and presented individual awards. Particularly exciting was the announcement of 12 athletes who earned All-Greater Piedmont Athletic Conference (GPAC) honors! Director of Riding Kate Worsham and Associate Directors of Riding Kendall Bear and Allie Pelz also awarded unique seasonal prizes.

Foxcroft's fall teams finished a strong season this month, with a highlight being Varsity Tennis winning their second consecutive Greater Piedmont Athletic Conference Championship! The team continued their season into the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) state tournament, falling to Norfolk Collegiate in the quarterfinal game. VISAA tournament play also ended for GPAC runner-up Varsity Field Hockey with a loss to Cape Henry Collegiate in the quarterfinals. Varsity Volleyball unfortunately lost in the GPAC quarterfinals. Cross Country runs in their state meet today. Congratulations to all of our athletes on a fine season!

A complete list of honors follows. Thank you to everyone who made the evening a grand success, especially Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff, Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer Mairin Wood, and the PA for the delicious and plentiful desserts.
