Dillon Wins First Battle of the Dorms Competition

By Emma L. ’24, Head Prefect

On Sunday, September 17, students from each dorm came together in the Leipheimer Gym to compete in the Battle of the Dorms Carnival. Students were dressed in their dorm colors and participated in several carnival games. They competed to win tickets from games like plastic ax throwing and an inflatable obstacle course. Every time a student won a game, they earned one ticket. One ticket equals one point towards the overall Battle of the Dorms competition. After students accumulated tickets, they put them in a jar for their dorm. Between games, students could grab popcorn, cotton candy, or a snow cone from the snack station.
At the end of the event, the dorms participated in a tug-of-war competition. Each dorm was able to compete against each other. After a dorm won one tug-of-war game, they earned 12 tickets. Dillon was unstoppable, winning four out of the five games.

After tallying the tickets, Reynolds came in third place with 128 points, Stuart was second with 156 points, and Dillon took first place with 175 points. Throughout the year, students will have more opportunities to earn Battle of the Dorm points, such as dorm decorating contests, trivia, dodgeball tournaments, and the annual Battle of the Dorm Skits at the end of the year.
