Students Honor Black History Month with Banquet

Students from Foxcroft’s Black Student Union and BIPOC Student Affinity Group organized a banquet for the entire campus community to celebrate and reflect on Black History Month. Throughout the month, students and faculty members also shared educational and informational presentations and videos during Morning Meetings.
Many thanks to all of the students and faculty who contributed to this month-long celebration. Special shoutouts go to the leadership of Black Student Union — Head Marlow B. ’22 and Assistant Heads Marley F. ’24 and Emma L. ’24 — and the BIPOC Student Affinity Group — Head Marley F. ’24; to faculty members Krystyna Martin, Whittney Preston, and Peachie Robinson; and to Jill Attanasio and the entire Dining Hall staff.

Following is a reflection from Marlow and Emma:

On Wednesday, February 16, the Foxcroft community gathered together in celebration of Black History Month. As a community, we took the time to reflect and celebrate, with many of our peers sharing quotes and reflections on this month’s theme of “Black Health and Wellness.”

Seeing our community come together — to share, reflect, and listen to great music — was a very impactful experience, and we can’t wait for next year’s banquet!

Happy Black History Month!
Marlow B. ’22 and Emma L. ’24
