Volleyball Squad Stands Toe-to-toe with Conference Leader

Foxcroft took on the Wakefield Owls in the first away match after fall break, and although they lost in three sets, they showed that they could hang with the top team in the conference. In the first set, Foxcroft jumped out to an 8-6 lead, powered by the serves of junior Kat W. Wakefield rallied to make the score 13-16 at the first timeout before finally pulling ahead to a 22-25 final score. Foxcroft came out flat-footed in the second set and spotted Wakefield a 0-7 lead. Foxcroft regrouped behind the powerful serves of Eva C. '24, who had four aces in her turn at the line. Ultimately, Foxcroft could not recover from the early deficit and fell 18-25. As per usual, the team did not quit in the third set and pushed Wakefield to the very end, bringing the score to 22-23 before falling 23-25.

Eva C.'24 led the team with 12 service points, including 5 aces. Maya K. '24 had a good service night as well, earning a season-high 6 points. Senior captains Adair S. and Elizabeth S. had several strong hits from the outside hitter position. Ashleigh H. '23 played great in her first match as the libero.

Foxcroft's next match is home against Quantico on 19 Oct at 4:00 p.m. Foxcroft families are welcome to attend under the school's Covid protocols.
