Three Players Earn Honors after Strong Showing at States
Foxcroft lacrosse had plenty to celebrate last week when seniors Loren S. and Haley B. and junior Allie M. received VISAA Division II All-State Honors to cap a season that saw the team reach the semifinal of the state tournament for the first time in three years.
Loren and Allie, the leading scorers for Foxcroft this season and standouts in Foxcroft’s state tournament games, were named to the First Team, while defensive stalwart Haley received second-team honors. Foxcroft, seeded sixth, upset third-ranked Norfolk Collegiate, 22-11, before falling to a tough Cape Henry Collegiate team, 15-7, to finish 8-6.
“I feel like we played so hard and so well on Tuesday (against Norfolk Collegiate), that they didn't have a lot left the rest of the week,” said Coach Laura Moan, after the semifinal. “But totally OK. Playing in States was a really fun experience and we had a really great season. The players are proud of their improvements and successes.”

Loren, who plans to play collegiately at Whittier College next year, had six goals and six assists in Foxcroft’s two state tournament games. For the season, she topped all Foxcroft scorers in points (83) with 47 goals and 36 assists. She also led the team in ground balls (54) and draws won (77). A first-team all-state selection in 2016, she ranked second in the state in ground balls, third in assists and fourth in points among more than 100 girls registered with MaxPreps, the official high school statistical service.
Allie scored eight goals against No. 3 ranked Norfolk Collegiate in Foxcroft’s quarterfinal upset and added two more in the 15-7 seimfinal loss to Cape Henry Colegeiate. All told, she led the team in goals with 53 to beomce only the fifth player in Foxcroft history to score more than 50 goals in a season twice. She also had 53 goals in her freshman campaign and then missed much of sophomore year with a concussion. Allie was eighth in the state in goals and she also had 10 assists for 63 points, ranking her 12th in that category.
Haley had 15 goals and five assists during the season, including three goals in the 22-11 victory over Norfolk Collegiate in the VISAA quarterfinal game.
Allie and Haley also were first-team all-state field hockey players last fall.
