Arts Week 2024: A Celebration of Creativity

Foxcroft will celebrate the fundamental human desire to create during Arts Week 2024, beginning on Monday, April 22, and ending on Saturday, April 27. Art in education pushes individuals to find their voices and realize their vision no matter the method of expression. Aligning perfectly with Foxcroft’s mission, the scope of the activities offered during the week will range from visual arts workshops and exhibits to musical and theatrical performances, inspiring creativity in our girls across the gamut.
During Arts Week, there will be special events planned for each day. The week will kick off with our exhibit prize voting. The Science Photography Contest entries will be displayed in the Science Wing, and winners will be awarded in each of the eight categories. Their works will also be featured on Instagram @fxcphotography and framed prints displayed throughout campus.

The entire community is invited to take in all the visual arts exhibits on display throughout Schoolhouse during a special Advisory Gallery Walk. Several Senior Solo Shows will be on display on the main floor. Each of these artists’ pieces will be eligible to earn the title “Best in Show” and be officially adopted into Foxcroft’s permanent art collection.

On Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, students and faculty will lead the Festival of Arts Workshops. Several Foxcroft clubs are collaborating to offer hands-on activities, including t-shirt making with the STEM club, stage fighting with the International Thespian Society, music making with Jam Session, decorative crafts with the Art Club, and much more. During Morning Meeting on Friday, there will be special performances and presentations highlighting our music, dance, and theater programs.

Tuesday, we will host this year’s Helen Cudahy Niblack 1942 visiting artist Joneve Murphy, who will speak to the community about her career as a farmer, garden designer, and natural artist during Morning Meeting. Later that afternoon, she will work with a small group of students to create a natural structure in Miss Charlotte’s Garden. If you would like to attend her presentation — April 23, 10:20-11am in the Audrey Bruce Currier Library — please RSVP. Admission is free, but space is limited.

To close out the week, Foxcroft’s production of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will have showings on Friday and Saturday evening beginning at 7:30pm. Come and support the performing arts at Foxcroft! Admission is free, but please RSVP, as space is limited.

We invite families to visit us for all the Arts Week events. Please email julie.fisher@foxcroft.org if you have questions. Following is the schedule for Arts Week 2024.
