Implementing Foxcroft's Flex Learning Plan

From Assistant Head of School Courtney Ulmer

Foxcroft’s Flex Learning Plan allows us to pivot from in-person to online learning as needed during the 2020-2021 school year. Our first pivot is taking place sooner than anticipated as we begin the year in a period of distance learning.

While an online option is not a complete substitute for all that can be offered in person, Foxcroft has developed programming to maintain student and community engagement even while the challenges of a pandemic prevent us from being together safely in person.
Based on feedback from parents, students, and teaching faculty in the spring, we have used the time between May and now to strengthen and enhance the Flex Learning Plan and the delivery of the Foxcroft online learning experience. Faculty all completed additional professional development training this summer centered around teaching online and have been working to implement these strategies into their lesson plans for the fall.

Specifically, the Learning Center, the Student Life Program, athletics, and advisories will continue to deliver necessary and personalized services to all of the students. If you have questions or concerns about your daughter and her needs, please let me know and I can take your feedback to the appropriate person so that they can be addressed.

Notes about the Academic Daily Schedule
  • Classes and Co-Curricular activities starting at the same time each day will ensure consistency.
    • We will follow the same schedule each week.
    • Classes, Co-Curricular, and Sports times are synchronous.
    • Attendance will be taken in all classes and for co-curricular activities.
      • Families are asked to partner with Foxcroft to ensure that students are attending their commitments and the Health Center is notified if a student is sick.
  • There are Open Tutorial times each day for additional help.
  • Teachers will use a standard Weekly Assignment Guide and resources on myFoxcroft to make things consistent across all classes.
  • Wednesday will be our Co-Curricular day.
    • This gives dedicated time to student life programming, class and dorm meetings, Wellness programming, leadership and grade level programming, speakers, club time, as well as time for faculty meetings and tutorial periods.
