Playing in the spacious, three-court Athletic/Student Center, Wakefield went 3-0 in a modified round-robin of five teams, to claim its fourth Think Pink Varsity Championship. Wakefield defeated Foxcroft 19-10 in the tournament opener, demonstrating that the loss of Delaney Athletic Conference Player of the Year Emily G. to graduation (Niagara University) hadn't debilitated the team that reached the state finals last year. Led by guard Airielle J., Wakefield also beat St. James School, by a score of 24-16, and Randolph-Macon Academy, 22-9.
St. James's Junior Varsity team blew by Wakefield and Foxcroft to claim the JV crown, and LCDS won the six-team middle school class with victories over Wakefield, Fredericksburg Academy, and Quantico. Foxcroft's Varsity, taking advantage of the opportunity to give all 14 of its players a lot of court time, went 1-3, defeating Randolph-Macon and falling to St James and Fredericsburg. Meanwhile, the Foxcroft JV, an enthusiastic but largely inexperienced crew, lost twice, to Wakefield and St. James.
