Five Field Hockey Players Receive All-State Honors

Senior Pipsy S., juniors Allison B. and Lindsay W. and freshman Haley B. have been named to the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II Field Hockey All-State First Team, it was announced Friday by Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff.

Senior Laney M. was a Second-Team choice.
Pipsy, Allison and Lindsay are repeat First-Team choices while Laney also was a Second-Team selection last season.

Pipsy and Lindsay anchored Foxcroft’s strong defense, with Pipsy also adding a pair of assists in the 3-0 state semifinal victory over Carlisle School.

Allison set a school record for most assists in a season (17) and also scored six goals, including a pair against Carlisle. Her sister, Haley, tallied 16 goals and 11 assists, including two goals and two assists in the three games of the state championships.

Laney had a team-leading 18 goals and five assists on the season. She scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Virginia Episcopal in the quarterfinal match of the state tournament, including the game-winner in overtime. She also had an assist in the final against Fredericksburg Academy.

On Friday, November 13, senior Alex G. achieved All-State status in cross country for the second year in a row by finishing fourth in the VISAA Division II race. Only the top 20 finishers receive all-state honors in cross country.
