Stacy Allison, the first American woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest, was named the 2002 Alison Harrison Goodyear Fellow and spoke at Foxcroft School on February 25, 2002. Residents of Middleburg and the surrounding communities were invited to attend the lecture in Engelhard Gymnasium, located on the Foxcroft campus. A question and answer period followed.

Stacy Allison, who has been mountain climbing and leading expeditions to remote locations for over 20 years, reached the summit of Mount Everest on her second attempt, on September 29, 1988. She is the author of two books, Beyond the Limits: A Woman’s Triumph on Mount Everest and Many Mountains to Climb: Reflections on Competence, Courage, and Commitment. Her keynote presentation is "Beyond The Limits: Lessons From Everest." By sharing her story, Stacy inspires, challenges, and motivates her audience to apply the principles she learned at high altitude to their everyday lives.
