Riders Host IEA Meet, Earn Reserve Championship
Lily Y. '18, Reilly C. '17, and Marina V. '20 earned blue ribbons and overall, Foxcroft riders collected 14 top-three finishes Sunday at McConnell Stables to take the Reserve Championship in their first Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) horse show of the year.
Director of Riding Kate Worsham was happy with the team's performance; "I am confident that the IEA team is on the right track.
"With a team of twenty girls, 10 returning, and 10 new," she continued, "there is a lot of great energy this year for the IEA. This was clearly evident as the girls put in many hours to ready the barn and the horses for the show and the gracious and thoughtful hostesses they were Sunday."
Foxcroft will host another IEA show on Nov. 6. The IEA is the largest scholastic riding organization in the country with more than 5,000 student riders competing on hundreds of teams in 12 zones across North America. Riders randomly pick horses, also known as “catch riding,” in flat and over fences classes at several levels and accumulate points at local meets in order to qualify for Regional, Zone, and then National shows.
