Student Experience

We call on each student’s active engagement in a variety of student-centered programs that include Student Council, Fox/Hound, Athletic Association, Activities Committee, grade-level experiences, service learning, dorm living, and more.

The Council strives to uphold Foxcroft’s shared values, to nurture a positive and inclusive school community, and to ensure that our programs remain mission-appropriate and relevant to the student body. The Student Council involves others, gathers feedback, and recommends changes and new initiatives to enhance the student experience.

Each club must be approved by the Student Council and the Office of Student Experience and have a faculty sponsor who is required to attend all club-sponsored meetings and activities. Additionally, each club is expected to hold meetings and programs as required, maintain club meeting and attendance records, and complete club planning and update forms. In order to maintain official club status, clubs are expected to sponsor community enrichment events. 

Schoolwide events, initiatives, and communication must receive prior approval from the Student Council, Office of Student Experience, and — when necessary — the Fundraising committee. Community Impact Grant money is also available to clubs and organizations that are seeking opportunities to enrich our community life. The Student Council reviews and approves all applications for funding.

Affinity Groups need to be approved by the Dean of Inclusive Excellence and have an adult advisor. There are no set number of meetings an affinity group needs to have; however, the adult sponsor must be present at ALL meetings. Students should self-identify into affinity groups.

Guided by and informed by the student-led Service Committee, the Office of Student Experience plans and offers a range of service-learning opportunities during the week and on weekends, Wintermission, and other times — including domestic and international service trips — for students to engage in the local and global communities in meaningful ways. Additionally, service-learning initiatives are integrated into the grade-level experience that includes community outreach, teambuilding, financial literacy, wellness, and leadership.

All initiatives must be mission-oriented, properly sponsored and supervised, and approved by the Office of Student Experience, the Academic Office, and the Office of Institutional Advancement. This protocol does not include the Junior Fundraising project.
