Introduction

Dear Students and Families,

Foxcroft’s Student and Family Handbook is revised each year to reflect our experiences working and living together as a community. Our Student Council and our Honor Council, serving as elected representatives of their peers, work closely with the Office of Student Experience to review our community standards. Foxcroft’s community standards reflect our School’s values and help us create expectations for how we want to live and work together. Our students’ participation in the conversation around our community norms, policies and values is central to our mission and philosophy at Foxcroft to educate young women for leadership, responsibility, kindness and integrity. 

It is very important that both students and families remain familiar with the contents of this handbook. The Student and Family Handbook is intended to be a reliable source of information on the daily lived experience of our students and community members at Foxcroft. The topics include our values and expectations for policies governing the academic office and all parts of the student experience. The handbook includes rules for personal conduct and behavior. It also includes information about services for students and which community members our families should contact when they have questions and/or concerns. We hope that it will serve as a useful guide for all members of our community in understanding the values, life, and procedures of the School, as we work together to strive to be our best selves.

The policies and procedures outlined in this handbook may be revised as a result of our continuing discussions and as needs change during the school year. Any updates will be communicated to students and families in announcements and in newsletters, and the most updated handbook will always be posted on the School website. Please note that not knowing an expectation is not a valid excuse for not meeting it. If you have questions, please reach out to any member of our administrative team and we will help you with a stronger understanding of our community values and expectations.

What is most important is that we strive to live in the spirit of community, integrity, respect and inclusion while also following our community’s standards outlined in the handbook. Although it is not possible that a rule covers every possible issue or incident, we will all work together to focus on the spirit of the policies, procedures and rules. We will all seek to live in the understanding that our actions reflect our character and the experience of others in our Foxcroft community.
