Varsity Basketball's Elizabeth S. ’22 Named Athlete of the Week

Varsity center Elizabeth S., who became the first freshman to record double figures in rebounds since Foxcroft joined the Delaney Athletic Conference 11 years ago, has been named Foxcroft School’s Athlete of the Week for the period of Jan. 13-19.
Elizabeth pulled down 12 rebounds against Middleburg Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 14, to beat the previous high of nine rebounds by a freshman established on Feb. 9, 2012 by Carrie Cunningham ’15. In addition to her 12 blocked shots, Elizabeth also had eight points, four blocked shots and two assists against Middleburg Academy last Tuesday.

At Foxcroft’s Think Pink Basketball Tournament on Jan. 12, Elizabeth had 10 rebounds against MA. Tournament games were not regulation high school contests, though, so that performance is not included in the season’s official statistics. The last Foxcroft player to get double figures in rebounds in two consecutive games is Kathleen Forrest ’16, who did it during the 2014-15 season.

Elizabeth and her teammates host Trinity Christian and Fredericksburg Academy on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, and travel to Mercersburg on Thursday.
