Foxcroft Holds Off R-MA for First Victory

Key steals by junior Brianna M. and senior Loren S. in the final 33 seconds of the game helped Foxcroft hold off Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal for its first victory of the season. Foxcroft, which hadn't played a game in several weeks because of exams and the Christmas holiday, built an 11-4 lead at halftime and was ahead, 17-11, after three quarters. But R-MA crawled to within one point with 33 seconds remaining and had possession of the basketball. But Brianna stole the ball from an R-MA player and raced up the floor for a drive to the basket. She missed her shot and R-MA got the ball but Loren stole the ball at midcourt with 7 seconds left and Foxcroft held on to even its record at 1-1.Loren and freshman Elizabeth S. each had six points for Foxcroft to lead the scoring. Freshman Lucy M. chipped in with four assists and Bella S. added a team-high seven rebounds.
