First Game Jitters

There’s an old adage about "getting one's sea legs," which means being able to walk calmly and steadily on a tossing ship, or becoming accustomed to a new or strange situation.

Foxcroft's basketball team is in search of its sea legs . . . and it may take a while to find them.

The team struggled in its season opener against quicker Trinity Christian School, losing 37-14 in Fairfax. TCS's man-to-man defense forced many turnovers and allowed Foxcroft only 27 shots in the game and just six field goals.

Senior Loren S. led Foxcroft with five points, including a desperation 3-point basket from near midcourt just before the first-half buzzer sounded. Seniors Leah S and Ify N., junior Allie M. and freshman Lucy M. each had one basket. Freshman Elizabeth S. added a free throw and led the team with five rebounds.

Foxcroft does not play again until after the Christmas break.
