Seniors Haley B. and Holland D. Named Players of the Year, Lead 12 All-DAC Selections

Seniors Holland D. and Haley B. have been named Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) Player of the Year for tennis and field hockey, respectively, and lead a group of 12 Foxcroft athletes receiving All-DAC honors this fall, Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff announced Tuesday.

In addition, Hayley Brick, who led Foxcroft to a 12-3 record in her first year at the School, was named Coach of the Year for tennis and Woodruff was Field Hockey co-Coach of the Year, with Fredericksburg Academy’s Karen Moschetto.
Haley, who set a Foxcroft record for career goals with 83, was one of seven field hockey players who were honored by the DAC coaches. Seniors Seabrook B., Grace M., and Loren S.; junior Allie M., and sophomore Betsy A. all joined Haley on the First Team. Junior Janie W. was named to the Second Team.

Holland, an All-DAC First Team selection in her sophomore and junior years, was joined on the First Team by senior Lily F., the team’s No. 2 singles player and Holland’s partner at No. 1 doubles. Freshman Gigi G., the No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles player, was a Second Team selection.

Two members of Foxcroft’s volleyball team received All-DAC honors as well: Senior Leah S., the team leader in kills, digs, and service aces, was named to the Second Team and freshman Gracen K., who led the team in assists, received Honorable Mention.

Haley, who was DAC Field Hockey Co-Player of the Year last year, has a team-leading 15 goals this season, including 11 in six regular season DAC contests. A midfielder, she plans to play NCAA Division I field hockey at the University of Vermont next year.

Seabrook, Loren, Grace, and Betsy were all named to the First Team for the second year in a row. Seabrook scored five goals this fall, and Loren added one goal and had two assists in five conference games. Grace was an anchor on defense and is the third member of her family to gain All-DAC honors at Foxcroft. Her sister, Charlotte, was a First-Team selection in 2011 and her other sister, Lilly, made First Team in 2010, 2012, and 2013.

Allie was the team’s second-leading scorer with seven goals, including six in DAC games. She also tied for the team lead in assists (8) with Betsy, who recorded five of her assists against DAC competition, and now has 27 assists in two seasons.

Janie missed some of the season with a concussion, but stood out on defense in the conference games in which she played.

Holland was a standout at No. 1 singles and compiled a 12-1 record during the regular season. Lily and Gigi were also key players holding down the second and third singles positions.

In volleyball, Leah had 62 of her 127 total kills and 70 of her 123 digs in 30 conference sets, while King registered 39 of her 82 assists in 25 DAC sets and also had an 88.7 serving percentage.
