Karla Vargas Becomes Foxcroft’s Director of Enrollment Management

Karla Vargas has been named Director of Enrollment Management at Foxcroft School, effective July 1. Vargas, who has a wealth of admission, financial aid, and marketing expertise acquired by working in a variety of educational settings, comes to Foxcroft from St. Andrews Episcopal School in Ridgeland, MS, where, as Director of Enrollment and Financial Aid, she oversaw the recruitment and retention of 1,150 students in grades PreK-12.
A native of Chile who grew up in Ithaca, NY, Vargas began her career in education at Mercersburg (PA) Academy, where she taught Spanish, lived in a dorm, and served as Director of the ESLPlus Summer Language Enrichment Program.

In 2004, she moved into graduate school enrollment, serving as Director of Financial Aid at Cornell Law School and, later, the University of Chicago Law School. Vargas was then named Assistant Vice President of Traditional Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX, where she gained valuable experience in a broad range of enrollment management matters. She also served as Dean of Recruitment and Admissions and then as Associate Dean of Graduate Programs at Green Mountain College in Poultney, VT, before returning to the secondary school world in 2012.

“We are excited to have not only Karla's wide range of experience but also her energy and enthusiasm for working with our students and their families,” said Head of School Catherine S. McGehee. “Her knowledge, passion for girls' education, and creativity will enable us to expand our reach across the United States and the world to attract students who enrich our School community.”

Vargas earned a B.A. in Comparative Literature and Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Western New Mexico University. She also holds a Certificate in Marketing from Cornell University. She recently presented at the National Association of Independent School Admission Professionals annual institute.

“Foxcroft is an incredible school with outstanding faculty and programs,” said Vargas. “I am excited about the opportunity to represent this strong institution for girls’ education and to be part of such a welcoming community.”
