Campus Visit from Award-Winning Author

by Lilly P. '15

Marcus Sedgwick is the author of thirteen young adult books and the recent winner of the 2014 Printz award for “literary excellence in young adult literature” for his novel Midwinterblood. His other works include White Crow, My Swordhand Is Singing, and Revolver.

Mr. Sedgwick came to Foxcroft last Wednesday to promote his most recent release, She Is Not Invisible. After a lunch discussion with Foxcroft’s book club, The Next Chapter, Mr. Sedgwick gave a presentation in Currier Library which invited students and faculty on a virtual tour of the cottage where he does his writing. Each item of the room led to a different discussion about Mr. Sedgwick’s books and his writing process, ranging from where he finds the inspiration for and the organization of his plots to the variety of designs created for the international covers of his books. After the talk, Mr. Sedgwick signed books and chatted with students.

Thanks to Mr. Matthews, who organized the event, the end of the year will see many members of the Foxcroft community relaxing with signed copies of She Is Not Invisible.
