Selection Committee for Sports Hall of Fame Complete

Three former winners of the Teresa E. Shook Award have been named to the eight-member Foxcroft Sports Hall of Fame committee that will elect the inaugural class of 2014.

Former Shook Award winners Victoria “Vicky” Howard ’71, Cricket Bedford ’85 and Jennifer Sgro Orfield ’91 join a committee that also includes former Athletic Director Joan Eliot, former English chair Stewart Herbert ’77, athletic director Michelle Woodruff, riding director Kate Worsham and Dean of Students Jessi Coil ’06. The Shook Award, Foxcroft's highest for team sports, is presented annually for athletic skill and sportsmanship.
The committee will vote on nominees in November with the announcement of inductees scheduled for December.

There are three categories for election to the Hall of Fame: Pioneer (outstanding contributors to the Foxcroft athletic program before 1972), individual player, coach or team. At the meeting forming the Sports Hall of Fame last year,  it was agreed that Charlotte Haxall Noland, the School’s founder and an avid believer in physical education for women, would be inducted under the Pioneer category for her many contributions to the school’s athletic program.

Several nominations have been received but more are welcome. Please review the Nomination Guidelines, and submit your nomination(s) by completing the Sports Hall of Fame Nomination form online or printing the form and mailing it to the School.
