Academic Concentration Projects Culminate in Final Presentations to the Community

Last Wednesday, May 24, the Academic Concentration program’s six graduating seniors made their final presentations to family and community members during the culminating event for the program.
Presentations took place from 9-11:30am in 30-minute time slots, with options for friends and family to attend. These students also received special recognition on their diplomas.

The array of topics studied was quite diverse, from Global Studies students Avery H., who researched and wrote a historical fiction novel on World War II comfort girls, and Johanna B., who studied historic folklore, to STEM students Gabby G., who monitored the effects of coal mining on water quality in West Virginia, Helen V., who mapped Foxcroft’s trail system while investigating the psychological benefits of nature, Lynn Z., who used Minecraft to design an anatomical brain to showcase the neurological basis for intuition, and Fine Arts Concentration student Alexa C., wrote and directed a collection of short films.

Congratulations to this year’s Concentration graduates and mentors on their hard work! If you did not attend, videos of their presentations are attached to this article.
