Foxcroft IEA Team Takes the Win at Clairvaux LLC

After the excitement of the Fox/Hound Field Hockey games on Saturday and the official start to Thanksgiving Break, five Foxcroft IEA team members braved the cold temperatures on Sunday, November 20, to compete at Clairvaux LLC in Leesburg. Despite running on very little sleep from the end-of-season festivities, the Foxcroft team was in it to win it and delivered a strong performance to clinch the champion honors.
Captain Sage W. ‘23 and Anneliese C. ‘26 gave the Foxcroft team an early lead with wins in the Open and Intermediate fences classes. The Novice fences class was, once again, large and competitive with eleven riders, but Claire M. ‘24 and AM C. ‘25 put in smooth, consistent rides, and both placed in the top six.

With our riders feeling confident from the jumping phase, they headed into the second half of the day, ready to flat their best. Sage W. and Anneliese C. had clearly made a great impression on the judge in the jumping classes and secured a second and third-place finish in the Intermediate and Open flat classes, respectively. AM C. fought to the top of a tough Novice class, earning second place, a personal best in a new division. We rounded out the day with the JV Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter (WTC) class, where Madison B. ‘24 rode to a respectable fifth-place finish.

With riders placing in every one of the nine classes in which they competed and with five top-three finishes, Foxcroft rode to first place as a team with an impressive seven-point lead over the reserve champion team. We will be back in action in a few weeks at Wulf Crest Stables in Leesburg on Sunday, December 18, 2022. The full results are below.
