Athletic Acclaim for Fall Sports Athletes

The Athletic Association and Athletic Department, together with the Parents’ Association (PA), hosted a wonderful Fall Sports Awards ceremony Monday evening celebrating Foxcroft’s teams and accomplishments. Athletic Association senior heads Molly C., Lucy M., Winley T., and Olivia W. and junior assistant heads Caroline C., Eva C., and Emma L. emceed the entire evening. After the ceremony, students were treated to tasty baked goods and desserts organized by Parents’ Association Athletic Coordinators Julie Thomas and Will Cramer (Becca ’23, J ’21) and supplied by many wonderful parents.
During the program, members of the cross country, field hockey, tennis, and volleyball teams received certificates, and varsity athletes got their letters. Each coach said a few words about their team’s season and presented individual awards. Particularly exciting was the announcement of 17 athletes who earned All-Greater Piedmont Athletic Conference (GPAC) honors! Director of Riding Kate Worsham and Assistant Directors of Riding Kendall Bear and Allie Pelz awarded unique seasonal prizes.

A complete list of honors follows. Thank you to all the folks who made the evening a grand success, especially Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff, Assistant Athletic Director/Head Athletic Trainer Mairin Wood, and the PA bakers for the delicious and plentiful desserts.

Foxcroft's fall teams finished a strong season this month, with a highlight being Varsity Tennis' GPAC finals victory over Highland last Friday to claim the title of Greater Piedmont Athletic Conference Champions! The team continued their season into the VISAA state tournament this week, falling to Norfolk Collegiate in the quarterfinals game. Varsity field hockey and cross country also advanced to the state tournament this week. Field hockey, who were the runners-up in the GPAC tournament, played hard in Tuesday's VISAA quarterfinals, losing to Walsingham Academy in overtime. After a weather-related schedule change, cross country ran today in the state meet, with two athletes running their season best! Varsity Volleyball closed a great season after a tough loss to Highland in the GPAC semifinals. Congratulations to all of our athletes on a fine season!
