The Foxcroft IEA Team Opens the Season with a Doubleheader Weekend

The Foxcroft School IEA team kicked off the regular show season by hosting a horse show at home last Saturday, October 8, and traveling to Meadowbrook Stables in Chevy Chase, MD, last Sunday, October 9.

Our riders were excellent hosts to the three teams who came to compete on Saturday — they worked hard, rode well, and took great care of all the horses. Captains Lexi H. ’23 and Sage W. ’23 started the day off on the right foot claiming first and second, respectively, in a tough Varsity Open Fences class. Our team rode consistently and placed in every class, including six top-three finishes. Prestige Training, LLC and Clairvaux Stables came out on top, with Foxcroft coming in a close third place at the end of the day.
On Sunday, we hit the road with six team members and two Foxcroft horses to compete at Meadowbrook Stables. Claire M. ’24 was our first to compete and put Foxcroft on the board with a sixth-place finish out of a large, competitive field in the JV Novice Fences class. Captain Meredith K. ’23 kept the team momentum, finishing second in the JV Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter. We were especially proud of our horsy teammates who helped out the hosts — Pongo and Chris were perfect representatives of the Foxcroft program and earned many ribbons (and carrots) throughout the day. We finished the day with three top-three finishes, placing fifth overall.

The next IEA competition will take place on November 12 at Meadowbrook Stables.
