Sharing the Festive Spirit On-Campus and Around Town

The Foxcroft community happily spread cheer last weekend. Beginning with the touching "Giving Stories" shared by several students Friday evening and continuing through Santa's entrance at the end of the traditional Christmas Pageant on Sunday, it was impossible not to be in the spirit of the season!

Friday evening, students decorated their dorms and several common spaces across campus, prepared costumes and sets for the Pageant, and wrote letters of thanks for members of the community. Not to be outdone by their students’ festive spirit, a merry band of faculty strolled from dorm to dorm caroling all the way!
Chimera Editor-in-Chief Cecelia M. ’22 and Prose Editor Lilia S. ’22, along with fellow senior Leah N. ’22, continued the tradition of students writing and sharing stories about the spirit of giving with the campus community. Students and faculty alike gained perspective on how a small gesture can brighten someone's day more than you'd ever imagined and the importance of giving back to those in need from these inspiring stories.

On Saturday during "Christmas in Middleburg," student volunteers lived the School’s value of service by helping at "Santa's Workshop," where they painted the faces of delighted children. In the Parade, freshmen and a handful of sophomores rode in the Foxcroft float — a festive sleigh — singing carols and handing out candy along the parade route.

Though the global pandemic once again rendered us unable to share our traditional Christmas Pageant with the Middleburg community, the School was excited to host Foxcroft families and the campus community in Engelhard Gymnasium for the Pageant on Sunday. New Girls from the freshman and sophomore classes, as well as our talented singers, gave a beautiful performance — click here to watch the video. From the Old Girls reminiscing about their Pageant roles in days past to children eagerly awaiting the visit from Santa Claus, this tradition continues to create the merriest of memories.
