Self Defense Club Hosts Speaker Lt. Shaun Jones of the Middleburg Police Department

by Lucy M. ’23, Self Defense Club Head

Last Thursday, December 2, Lieutenant Shaun Jones of the Middleburg Police Department spoke to the Foxcroft community about situational awareness for young women. His presentation gave students the opportunity to learn how to recognize and address possibly dangerous situations.
Many of us learned small tricks and tips on how to be safer, such as always locking your car, checking the backseat before you get in, being aware of nearby exits, using your everyday items as either weapons or resources, and more. He also mentioned his work with the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program, which many of our students are interested in, so we may see him again in the near future!

This information session was also a qualifier for the Self Defense Wintermission course we have coming up this year.
