Foxcroft Wins Opening GPAC Tournament Match

The Foxcroft varsity volleyball team made the long trek to Charlottesville again on Tuesday night, but this time they came back home with a victory, which avenged two previous losses to Tandem Friends School this season. They started the first set strong, building an 18-13 lead before finally closing the set at 25-21. The second set was closer but well within control at 23-22 when the referee said that Foxcroft took too much time at the serving line, giving TFS the point and the serve. The set eventually went to TFS 24-26. Foxcroft came out with a vengeance in the third set, establishing a 20-14 lead that they took to an easy 25-18 win. In the fourth and final set, TFS challenged Foxcroft a little more, but the visiting team eventually took it at 25-23.

In a night of stars, sophomore Eva C. was the brightest, recording a 92% serve percentage, 13 aces, 15 assists, 7 digs, and a kill for good measure. Kat W. '23 was outstanding in the middle blocker position, earning 4 service aces, 4 digs, 9 kills, 2 blocks and 2 partial blocks. Elizabeth S. '22 continued her hot streak on defense and offense with 6 aces, 5 kills, and 6 digs.
