Much Love for "Broadway Backwards!"

Last Saturday evening, a talented group of students sang, danced, and entertained their families and the Foxcroft community in Engelhard Gymnasium during the performing arts production of Broadway Backwards. The production featured members of the Foxcroft Chorale, Theatre Production class, and Dance Company, as well as the entire Class of 2025 and several soloists, who performed Broadway songs that were originally written for and performed by men.
From Cabaret and Dear Evan Hansen to The Sound of Music, Pippin, and more, the talented performers put on an exhilarating show. The production even contained one surprise for the audience — History teacher Alex Northrup made a guest appearance in full Edna Turnblad costume for the final number, “You Can’t Stop the Beat” from Hairspray — and another for the girls, as Mrs. McGehee sang her Head’s Day announcement to the tune of “Edelweiss” from The Sound of Music.

If you were unable to attend — or even if you did — you can enjoy all of the performances via the photo gallery and video attached to this article.

It was so wonderful to experience a live Foxcroft show again after the long COVID hiatus! Kudos to each member of the cast and crew for their hard work in bringing Broadway Backwards to Engelhard Gym this fall! Special thanks to members of the Fine Arts Department — Director Karin Thorndike, Musical Director Eric Dombrowski, Voice Instructor and Music Coordinator Morgan Brower, and Dance Instructor Rylee Simmons — for coaching and guiding the performers straight through to the final bow. And a huge shoutout to the Tech Crew, without whom we would’ve been sitting in the dark and wondering what the performers were saying.

Bravo, bravo!
