Foxcroft Riders Find Success at Scenic Virginia Show Venues this Fall Season

The Foxcroft riding program had a number of riders participate in two weekends of showing during the month of October. With relatively warm fall temperatures coupled with the leaves changing colors, it was the perfect atmosphere for the riders to perform both in Leesburg and Culpeper.
The WIHS Regional Horse Show held at the Morven Park Equestrian Center in Leesburg, VA, on October 22-23 showcased Foxcroft riders in both the hunter and the jumper rings. Isabelle M. ’23 piloted Foxcroft's Dapper Dan in the Children's Hunter division and, although the pair was not awarded any ribbons, they had smooth rounds in what was just their second competition as partners. In the jumper ring, the Foxcroft riders competed in classes ranging from the .80m through the Low Children's Classic at 1.05m. Highlights included a win for Irene B. ’24 and Pablo in the Classic, as well as the division championship for the Low Children's.

Full results from WIHS are as follows:
  • Georgia R. ’22 & Corrado: 8th in .75m
  • Irene B. ’24 & Pablo: 5th in Low Children's Jumper; 1st in Low Children's Jumper Classic; Champion Low Children's Jumper division
After a few days at home to get regrouped, the Foxcroft riders and trainers headed out to the next competition at Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, VA, for the HITS Culpeper Celebration on October 29-31. The jumper riders took center stage at this horse show and contested classes in the .65m through the 1.0m divisions. After rain put a damper on their prep class plans on Friday, the riders were eager to get in the show ring over the weekend.

With horses there is never a dull moment and, after a last-minute issue prevented her horse from competing, Cierra C. ’25 did a fabulous job stepping up to catch ride a sales horse from Lake View Farm. The Foxcroft team is grateful to have friends in the show community that are willing and able to help us provide meaningful showing experiences to our riders when plans go awry. Cierra and Evita Car formed a quick bond and earned ribbons together in the .65m and the .80m jumpers. Even better than the ribbons earned by this duo were the compliments about Cierra's horsemanship and riding abilities given by Evita's trainer — such a proud moment for the Foxcroft group.

Cierra's Foxcroft peers also put in accurate and thoughtful rounds which earned a number of prizes on Saturday and then rose to the occasion to produce more excellent ribbon winning rides on Sunday. Some highlights include Georgia R. ’22 earning 2nd and 4th in the .80m jumpers and then winning the speed round in her first .90m effort with her leased horse, Corrado, and also earning a spot in a 3-way tie for the Modified Child/Adult Jumper division championship. Once again, Irene B. ’24 and Pablo proved their winning ways by capturing the second-place finish in the $1,000 Dever Golf Cart Child/Adult Low Jumper Classic.

Complete results from the Culpeper adventure are as follows:
  • Cierra C. ’25 & Evita Car: 3rd, 7th in .65m & 7th in .80m
  • Sierra J. ’22 & Pourdire: 4th, 5th, 6th in .65m & 6th in .80m
  • Georgia R. ’22 & Corrado: 2nd, 3rd, 4th in .80m; 5th, 1st in .90m; Champion Modified Child/Adult Jumper
