Foxcroft Clinches First Home Win of Season

With a long time between matches after Fall Break, Foxcroft began today's match a little sluggish, but by the end, they played to their full potential against a much-improved Quantico team. Foxcroft did well in the first set, but they could not quite string together a good run of points and fell 17-25. The team rebounded in the second set after making several defensive adjustments and never trailed; they took the set by a score of 25-18. Quantico put up a great fight in the third set, and Foxcroft trailed as late as 14-18, but Elizabeth S. '22 and Kat W. '23 had an impressive string of serves that clinched the set at 25-22. In the fourth and final set, Foxcroft again had to dig deep as they were trailing 17-20, but Ashleigh H. '23 eventually sealed the match with several blistering serves.

Eva C. '24 again showed dominance from the service line with 13 service points (8 of them aces), and she had a great night as a setter. Not to be outdone, Kat W. had 16 service points (with 3 aces), which she complemented with several great blocks from the middle blocker position. Ashleigh H. looked impressive in her second match as libero, and her hustle and energy led the defensive effort.

The next match will be against Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal on Thursday, 21 Oct, at 4:00 p.m. Foxcroft spectators are not allowed according to Covid protocols.
