Foxcroft Shows Good Team Development in Loss

Foxcroft lost its final match before Fall Break on Thursday night, but the team achieved several goals that were established at the beginning of the season. With the offense established, the setters--Mimi W. '24 and Eva C. '24-- showed great promise throughout the night, and as a result, the outside hitters--team captains Adair S. '22 and Elizabeth S. '22--had several strong kills. Middle blockers Maya K. '24 and Kat W. '23 did not back down from the aggressive play of Randolph Macon Academy's (RMA) middle blockers.

Foxcroft kept the first set tight early, creeping as close as 10-14 before falling 17-25. In the second set, the team took an early 5-2 lead behind the strength of Eva C.'s serves. Foxcroft led by as much as 18-12, but RMA's star middle blocker regained the points with a few blistering serves, and Foxcroft fell just short at 22-25. They played well in the third set, but ultimately could not sustain a long rally and lost 14-25.

Amelia F. '22 had a great block and several good hits in the match. Eva C. led the team with 10 service points and 3 aces.

Foxcroft will return to play Tuesday, 5 Oct, in an away match against Wakefield School in The Plains, Virginia. Due to Covid protocols, Foxcroft families are not permitted at the match.
