Foxcroft CyberPatriot Team Completes Second Competition

By Betsy A. ’21, CyberPatriot Club Head

On Saturday, December 12, Foxcroft’s CyberPatriot team competed in our second competition of the year. It looked a little different this time because instead of being physically distanced in the Library classroom, we were all on Zoom. CyberPatriot, a national cyberdefense competition run by the Air Force Association, modified its rules this year to allow teams to compete together in person or online. This was certainly a new challenge on top of our competition.
Nevertheless, the team of five — Gracie S. ’21, Teagan S. ’21, Danielle P. ’23, Helen V. ’23, and myself — did very well. Each of us downloaded an image to run using virtual machine software, a computer inside of a computer if you will. To get points we answered security questions and fixed network vulnerabilities.

Overall, we improved more than 50 points from this time last year. As club head, I am very proud of this team and the work we have done! We have our final competition coming up in January, so wish us luck!
