Julia G. ’21 Signs to Play Lacrosse for The College of Wooster!

Senior Julia G. recently confirmed her commitment to play lacrosse at The College of Wooster during a remote celebratory letter-signing ceremony. A talented goalie, Julia racked up five saves in the quarterfinal game to ensure Foxcroft’s entry into the “final four” of the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division II Lacrosse state tournament in 2019 for the first time in three years. The College of Wooster is a private liberal arts college in Wooster, OH.
“An aggressive goalie whose technique has improved each and every year, Julia is the anchor to our defense and an excellent communicator on the field,” offered Coach Laura Moan. “As a lefty, she is in a unique position to bait and confuse shooters, a strategy she greatly enjoys. An excellent teammate and athlete, Julia is not afraid to mix it up and play on the field instead of in the goal sometimes, much to the delight of her team! That being said, the goal is definitely her home. As a two-sport goalie (field hockey and lacrosse), Julia has the right mindset for the position and has the confidence to enjoy the pressure that being a goalie can bring.”

“Julia has had a great career so far on the lacrosse field,” continued Moan. “Splitting time in goal during her freshman year, she helped the team win the Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) championship. That terrific experience helped Julia become the starting goalie her sophomore year, leading a tough defense. The team advanced to the VISAA state tournament, during which we had a great win and went on to the semi-finals. We are hoping that Julia can again lead the team to great heights this coming spring!”

Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff had this to add, "Julia has been an integral part of the lacrosse program at Foxcroft from the moment she stepped onto the field. She is an aggressive goalie, a great leader on and off the turf, and an incredible teammate. I am so incredibly proud of her and cannot wait to see what she does at The College of Wooster. The Fighting Scots are getting a great player, person, and community member."

Julia received All-DAC Second Team honors in field hockey last fall and is a past Athlete of the Week.

Congratulations, Julia!
