New Foxcroft Troupe of International Thespian Society Announces Inductees

by Julia G. ’21

This summer, Foxcroft’s official troupe of the International Thespian Society (ITS) was created, and last Thursday during Morning Meeting, Hays T. ’21 and I announced the first seven inductees. Founded in 1929, ITS was created to honor excellence in performance arts and celebrate young thespians. This honor society not only recognizes the importance of participation in theatre by actors, but it also recognizes the importance of backstage participants in regards to their excellence in technical theatre and directing.
The inaugural inductees to Foxcroft’s ITS Troupe are all seniors who have shown excellence in either on-stage performance or highly-acclaimed involvement in technical crew. Two of these seniors were inducted for performance (Jennifer C., Teagan S.), three were inducted for technical theatre (Hays T., Bianca M., Gracie S.), and two were inducted for both technical theatre and performance (Julia G., Harriet B.). These seven students have all performed 100 hours or more of community service in the theatre throughout their time at Foxcroft during tech weeks, set-building, and other times outside of class.

Director Karin Thorndike, President Julia G., Vice President Hays T., Secretary Jennifer C., and Treasurer Teagan S. make up the first executive body of Foxcroft’s troupe.
