Allie M. ’20 Commits to Play Lacrosse at University of Lynchburg

Senior Allie M., a two-time All-Delaney Athletic Conference First Team selection and a leading scorer at Foxcroft, confirmed her commitment to play intercollegiate lacrosse at the University of Lynchburg Wednesday in a celebratory letter-signing ceremony attended by her parents and the entire School community.
Enthusiastic cheers filled Foxcroft’s Audrey Bruce Currier Library and tears of joy ran down her mother’s face when Allie put her signature on an NCAA Division III celebratory letter after Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff highlighted her outstanding athletic career. Allie helped Foxcroft reach the “final four” of the VISAA Division II Lacrosse state tournament last year for the first time in three years. The University of Lynchburg is a private university located in Lynchburg, VA, and belongs to the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

“When she arrived at Foxcroft she immediately made her presence felt on every team she played on. In lacrosse she worked her way into a starting role on attack, immediately changing the makeup of the team,” said Woodruff, who has coached Allie in multiple sports over the past three years. “She has a nose for the goal — quickly racking up goals and assists. She has the quickest hands you will ever see. Everyone should go out and see her play this spring; she is a lot of fun to watch. She has worked hard over her summers, attended camps, played club lacrosse, all to get herself where she is today. She is that athlete that every coach wants — a great teammate, smart, coachable, extremely competitive, driven, quick, and unafraid.”

Assistant Director of College Counseling and Varsity Lacrosse Coach Laura Moan said, “Having the opportunity to coach Allie for what will be three years in lacrosse has been an absolute pleasure. Allie always greets me with a huge smile — every time. Rarely do we have a discussion that doesn’t include deep and sincere laughter.”

Coach Bruce Reid of Lynchburg's Women's Lacrosse team and the Hornets are getting someone with outstanding character, a true team player, a stellar athlete, someone who truly loves her sport and who absolutely loves to compete.

Allie, we are incredibly excited for you. Congratulations!
