Foxcroft Meets Fredericksburg Academy in VISAA Division II Field Hockey Semifinal on Friday

Here we go again! Foxcroft and Fredericksburg Academy will meet Friday in the semifinal game in the Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association (VISAA) Division II state field hockey tournament for the fifth time in seven years.
For the second year in a row, the teams will meet at the same venue, the Evergreen Sportsplex in Leesburg. The game begins at 4pm and Foxcroft will be looking to repeat its semifinal performance from last year when it defeated FA, 3-1, to reach the final. Ultimately the team lost to Cape Henry Collegiate, 2-0, last year’s No. 1 seed, but hopes to fare better and bring home the championship this year.

Foxcroft, which lost to FA twice during the regular season in very close matches, has been to the VISAA Division II semifinals five times and reached the final four times, but has yet to win a championship. FA beat Foxcroft for the title in 2012, 2013, and 2015.

Foxcroft, which defeated Chatham Hall, 6-1, on Tuesday to reach the semifinals, is paced by All-Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) First Team selections Allie M. ’20 (34 goals) and Betsy A. ’21 (15 assists). Allie is the No. 1 goal scorer and points leader (78) in the state among more than 100 girls registered with MaxPreps, the official high school statistical service.
