All A’s for Our Fall Athletes

Fall Sports Banquet shares appreciation and awards

The Athletic Association and Athletic Department, together with the Parents’ Association and the Dining Hall staff, hosted a wonderful Fall Sports Awards dinner Wednesday evening celebrating Foxcroft’s teams and accomplishments — even as field hockey continues to compete in the state competition on Friday. Athletic Association senior heads Olivia D., Allie M., Riley K., and Louise W. and junior assistant heads McKenzie M., Harriet B., Susannah M., and Moni C-P. emceed the entire evening. The awards concluded with tasty baked goods and desserts coordinated by Parents’ Association Athletic Coordinators Eileen and Matt Altenburger and supplied by many wonderful parents.
During the program, members of the field hockey, volleyball, tennis, and cross country teams were presented with certificates, and varsity athletes got their letters. Each coach said a few words about his or her team’s season. JV Volleyball coach Steve McCarty tested his French language skills when he reimagined that the meaning behind “JV” stands for “junior varsity” as well as “joie de vivre” that he witnessed among his energetic and enthusiastic players.

Individual awards were presented, and especially exciting was the announcement of 15 athletes who earned All-DAC honors! Director of Riding Kate Worsham and Assistant Directors of Riding Kendall Bear and Allie Pelz awarded unique seasonal prizes.

A complete list of honors follows. Thank you to all the folks who made the evening a grand success, especially Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff, Assistant Athletic Director Peachie Robinson, the Dining Hall staff, and the Altenburger family and lots of PA bakers for the delicious and plentiful desserts. And congratulations to our athletes on a fine season!
