Foxcroft Plays Hard in DAC Tournament

The varsity field hockey, volleyball, and tennis teams lost in Delaney Athletic Conference (DAC) tournament semifinal competitions Wednesday, but each team posted double figures in victories during the season to cap a memorable campaign for the fall sports program. It marked the first time since Foxcroft joined the DAC in 2008 that all three teams reached this milestone.

While the season is likely over for Volleyball and Tennis, Field Hockey will continue its season next Tuesday in the VISAA Division II state tournament. Foxcroft is currently ranked No. 3 in Division II.
The cross country team, which finished seventh in the DAC championships on Wednesday, also will compete in the VISAA state championship on Thursday, November 7, at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, VA.

The field hockey, volleyball, and tennis teams all battled hard before losing Wednesday.

Field hockey (14-4-1) lost to John Paul the Great, 4-3 in overtime, and volleyball (12-8) was beaten by Chelsea Academy, 3-0.

“It was a hard-fought game on both sides, right down to the wire,” field hockey coach Michelle Woodruff said of her team’s loss. “I am extraordinarily proud of my team and their grit. It might not have gone our way but we played tough to the bitter end.”

JPG is ranked No. 10 in VISAA Division I.

The tennis team, which finished 10-5, had lost to Fredericksburg Academy, 9-0, in two previous matches this season, but this time Foxcroft closed the gap and FA won 5-2.
