IEA Team Rides at Home This Saturday and Sunday

After Foxcroft’s IEA Team had a successful opening of the season with a win at Patuxent Run Stables in Prince Frederick, MD and a Reserve Champion finish at Cavallo Farm in Leesburg, VA, the riders are excited to host two back to back shows on their home turf — or should we say footing — this Saturday and Sunday. Competition begins in McConnell Stables at 10am with Varsity Open Over Fences and should run throughout the day with 12 classes on Saturday and 15 classes on Sunday, finishing with the Future Beginner on the Flat.
Madeira School, Wakefield School, Cavallo Farm, Meadowbrook Stables, Stone Gate Stables, Middleburg Academy, and Loudoun Valley High School are bringing teams that will be competing against Foxcroft over the course of the weekend. Sheryl Sutherby will serve as the judge on Saturday and Cricket Stone Morris will serve as the judge on Sunday.

Foxcroft IEA team members include freshmen Annabelle A., London H., Lexi H., Isabelle M., Emma W., and Sage W.; sophomores Gigi G., Ceci M., Cecilia M., and Lilly R.; juniors Julia C., Claire H., Chloe M., Emma P., Csenge V., Siena W., and Mackenzie W.; and seniors Elena B., Larisa B., Riley K., and Nyah N. Student volunteers will be helping with the course and the horses.

The IEA is the largest scholastic riding organization in the country with more than 13,000 student riders competing on hundreds of teams in 11 zones across North America. Riders are randomly assigned horses, also known as “catch riding,” in flat and over fences classes at several levels and accumulate points at local meets in order to qualify for Regional, Zone, and National shows. Last year, the Foxcroft IEA team was the Region 3 Champion, qualifying them for Zone finals where they finished eighth overall. With a strong team, consisting of 21 riders, Foxcroft will be looking to advance the team as well as a number of individual riders to the Finals competitions this year.

The show is open to all at no charge — we hope you’ll come and support your team!
