Loren S. Commits to Playing Lacrosse at Whittier College

Senior Loren S. a two-time All-Delaney Athletic Conference First-Team selection who scored 33 goals in her first 10 games this season, confirmed her commitment to play intercollegiate lacrosse at Whittier College Monday in a celebratory letter-signing ceremony attended by her mother, grandparents, and the entire School community.
Enthusiastic cheers filled Foxcroft’s Audrey Bruce Currier Library and tears of joy ran down her grandmother’s face when Loren put her signature on a NCAA Division III celebratory letter after Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff highlighted her outstanding athletic career. The Middleburg, VA, resident helped Foxcroft win last year’s DAC Lacrosse Championship and has been a key member of the School’s field hockey and basketball teams. Whittier is a private liberal arts college located near Los Angeles and belongs to the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Loren joins classmates Seabrook B., Grace M., Haley B., and Teddy S. as Foxcroft seniors committed to participate in collegiate sports. Haley, Lily, and Seabrook will all play field hockey — at the University of Vermont, an NCAA Division I school; Washington and Lee; and Sewanee: the University of the South, respectively. Teddy committed to swim at Manhattan College, another Division I school, in December. The number of Foxcroft athletes being recruited to play collegiately continues to grow.

“Loren is an incredibly athletic midfielder with great speed and eye-hand coordination, and a nose for the goal,” said Woodruff, who has coached Loren for four years of lacrosse and field hockey. “She has built on the athletic foundation she was gifted with, working both in and out of season to become the player that Whittier lacrosse is looking forward to having.”

Loren’s 33 goals this season rank third in the team with one remaining regular season game, the DAC Tournament, and — if current rankings hold — the VISAA Division II State Championship Tournament remaining. She also leads the team in assists with 24, ground balls (46) and draws won (58).

During her four years, Loren has collected 116 career goals and 73 assists, and helped the team win the DAC Tournament title in 2017. As a freshman, she earned VISAA Division II All-State honors after helping the team reach the championship game of the state tournament and amass a 13-4 record.

In field hockey, Loren played in two VISAA championship games, on two DAC Tournament championship teams, and was a two-time All-DAC First-Team selection. She was also a three-year starter on the basketball team.
