Meet Our Career Day Panelists

One of the many highlights during this year’s Reunion Weekend was Career Day, which saw a dozen talented alumnae return to campus to share their career experiences with current Foxcroft students. Tapping into this year’s academic theme of trailblazing, alumnae panelists spoke about how they forged their own career paths and how those paths may have taken some unexpected turns. With such a diverse group of panelists, students were able to choose breakout sessions featuring a variety of industries - everything from fashion to aviation, to national security! (If you’d like to volunteer for a future Career Day, please feel free to reach out … It’s never too early!) Read on to learn more about this year’s panelists:

Juliana Post ’69

After completing an MS in South Asian Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Juliana Post moved to Pakistan where she opened a kindergarten in Baluchistan. After growing the school for three years, she became a consultant with UNICEF where she designed materials that taught women to read while also teaching them best practices to ensure that their children remain properly hydrated (a serious threat to children in Pakistan). Juliana went on to teach South Asian history to 9th and 10th graders at the International School of Islamabad and finally returned to the US to continue teaching for another 27 years. Since retiring, Juliana continues to follow her passion for education by teaching English as a Second Language to refugees in Connecticut.

Melanie Lozier Henke ’89

Melanie Henke is the Senior Vice President of Operations for Freeman, the world’s leading brand experience company. Freeman designs and delivers immersive live experiences through comprehensive offerings, including strategy, creative, logistics, digital, and event technology. She is responsible for the leadership, strategy, direction, and goals of Freeman’s operations departments which comprise approximately 70% of the company’s revenue.

Melanie received a BS from the University of Georgia and then went on to Piedmont College where she earned a Master’s degree in teaching. She began her career at Freeman in 1997 in Atlanta, GA, later transferring to Las Vegas, NV, and most recently to their headquarters in Dallas, TX.

During her career, Melanie has transitioned from individual contributor to advancing leadership roles. She owes a great debt of gratitude to her many mentors for investing their time in her, which she gladly repays by mentoring the current and future leaders of Freeman. Developing great leaders is Melanie’s passion, a passion that was ignited during her time at Foxcroft School.

Prescott Bond ’94

Prescott Bond, with over 6000 flight hours logged, is a captain on the Embraer Phenom 300, flying for Netjets Aviation, the world’s largest fractional aircraft ownership company, which specializes in the management and operation of corporate jets. After graduating from Foxcroft, Prescott attended Wofford College, where she received a BA in Philosophy. She went on to attend flight school at Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach, FL, where she earned her flying licenses.

After gaining hours in her logbook as a flight instructor, Prescott went to work for ExpressJet Airlines flying turboprops and regional jets. She also flew for Atlantic Coast Airlines and was based at Dulles Airport. In addition to being a flight instructor and airline pilot, she has been a cargo pilot (affectionately known in the business as a “freight dog”). Now at Netjets Aviation, Captain Bond has spent the last fourteen years flying five different jets, traveling the world for both work and pleasure, competing in Ironman triathlons, and working to bring more women into the field of aviation.

Kristen Pagelson Brown ’94

Kristen Brown has been an Embedded Intelligence Analyst with the Counterintelligence Squad of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for 10 years. In this role, she works closely with agents on individual cases, tracks strategic threat trends, and regularly participates in surveillance, searches, and operations. After graduating with a BA in Government from the College of William and Mary, Kristen worked as a government contractor and in non-profit before accepting a job at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, DC, in the Counterintelligence Division. Assigned to the Eurasian Analysis Unit, she monitored foreign attempts to spy on the US Government and threaten national security. Kristen also served in Rome for a month during the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics and has made multiple trips to Belgium, Norway, and Hungary, representing the FBI in NATO meetings.

Rochelle Arms Almengor ’96

Rochelle Arms Almengor is an Assistant Professor in the Sociology Department of John Jay College-City University of New York (CUNY), specializing in Conflict Resolution and Restorative Justice. She received her Ph.D. from The School for Conflict Analysis and Resolution at George Mason University. Prior to this, she served as the Restorative Justice Coordinator of the New York Peace Institute where she managed mediation and restorative justice initiatives with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, Juvenile Justice Courts, schools, and community agencies in Brooklyn and Manhattan. She has trained or coached hundreds of individuals in communication skills, mediation, and other facilitative interventions.

Since 2000, Rochelle has worked in the U.S. and abroad in collaborative processes and restorative justice projects, with a variety of groups, including civil society organizations in India, indigenous peoples in Argentina, immigrants and refugees, and homicide offenders and victim survivors in Kentucky. Dr. Arms has a BA in Religion and Peace Studies from Swarthmore College and an MA in International Relations through a Rotary Peace Fellowship at Universidad del Salvador in Argentina.

Amanda Divine ’08

Amanda Divine works as a Strategic Sourcing Specialist at Amazon where she creates and executes marketing plans to support the hiring of warehouse associates in several large cities. Amanda began her college career at Elon University and later transferred to James Madison University where she graduated with a BA in Psychology. After relocating to Richmond, VA, Amanda worked as a Recruiting Assistant for several companies, hiring everyone from automotive technicians to occupational therapists before moving on to Amazon.

Rachel Means ’08

Rachel Means is a mixed media visual artist living and working in the Austin, TX, area. Through painting, sculpture, and installation, she uses a range of materials to explore self-awareness, concealment, light, and love. She received her BA from Davidson College where she was the Romare Howard Bearden Art Scholar, selected as an incoming freshman for academic and personal excellence, artistic ability, and promise in Studio Art. Rachel received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where she was the recipient of the MFA Faculty Award for the exceptionally high quality of her work throughout her graduate career and exerting a positive influence over her fellow students. She has exhibited work in numerous places including Washington, DC; Davidson, NC; Tampa, FL; Philadelphia, PA; and New York City, NY.

Emma Meyer ’08

Emma Meyer works as a government contractor for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the BioWatch Program, a nationwide federal program which provides early detection of biological agents in the event of a biological attack on the US. Emma specializes in incident response operations to ensure an efficient and effective response from the federal staff of DHS. She has a background in environmental health and how it impacts human health and emergency management. After receiving a BS in Environmental Science from the University of Mary Washington, Emma went on to achieve an MPH in Epidemiology from George Mason University.

Lizzy Mann Scully ’08

Lizzy Scully works as a Petroleum Geologist, discovering new oil and gas deposits for Marathon Oil. After graduating from Foxcroft, she earned a BS in Geology from Washington & Lee University and went on to achieve an MS in Geology from the University of Oklahoma.

Jordan Cline ’11

Jordan Cline is the marketing and events coordinator at LiveSafe, a mobile safety communication platform designed for businesses and universities. Co-founded by a Virginia Tech shooting survivor, LiveSafe is notable for its dedication to preventing serious safety incidents and advocating for female leadership, a mission Jordan proudly stands behind. After graduating from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with dual degrees in History and the Classics, Jordan worked as a project coordinator for a marketing firm and a content creator for a humanities teaching platform.

Miranda Gali ’14

Miranda Gali is a Health Project Coordinator for AmeriCorps VISTA at La Frontera’s Hope Center, a substance abuse treatment facility in downtown Tucson, AZ. In her current role, she works specifically with an opiate-using population, focusing on helping pregnant and postpartum women through their journey towards recovery. She co-leads two group therapy sessions a week, helps the center collect data on childhood trauma, and runs health education programming for La Frontera staff. Miranda obtained her BA in English from the University of Virginia and will begin pursuing a dual Master in Social Work/Master in Public Health at the University of Michigan in the Fall of 2019.

Madeline Travell ’14

Madeline Travell works as a Visual Merchandiser for Nordstrom in Pentagon City, VA, where she has become the lead women’s division stylist and window designer. As lead stylist, she assists with operational management and works to maintain the standards, presentation, and styling of Young Contemporary, Topshop, and Topman departments daily. Madeline graduated magna cum laude from High Point University with a degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Visual Merchandising Design. She got her start in visual merchandising design by collaborating with the Upperville Colt and Horse Show.
