Following the great success of the 2001 film starring Reese Witherspoon and its 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde was made into a musical that opened on Broadway in 2007. The show, with music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach, received seven Tony nominations and 10 Drama Desk nominations.

It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III. Although she she struggles with peers, professors, and her ex, Elle perseveres. She overcomes obstacles, finds a support network, and realizes her potential — and the power of the law.  Elle ultimately educates us all on staying true to our dreams in what the New York Times, called a “nonstop sugar rush of a show … which insists that a girl can be a powder puff and a power broker at the same time.”

Seniors lead the talented cast with Seabrook B., who has starred in several previous Foxcroft productions, playing Elle Woods,  Elizabeth B. performing the role of Brooke Wyndham, and Jenna T. cast as Warner. Veterans Leah S. and Jordan W. are also featured in their last appearances on the Foxcroft stage. Faculty members Matt Mohler and Alex Northrup have cameo roles.

The show is directed by Fine Arts Chair Karin Thorndike. Eric Dombrowski, a member of both the Fine Arts and World Languages departments, serves as musical director.
