Environmental Science

The 2017 AP Environmental Science class helped to raise awareness across our campus community about the harsh impact that improper disposal of cans, paper, and some food materials has on the environment.

That same class launched an initiative within the dorms to educate the campus community on how to recycle, which items can be considered compost, and how each person can contribute to keep Foxcroft “green” and reduce their carbon footprint. By working with the head dorm coordinator to include “turned off lights” as a room inspection requirement and tasking dorm leaders with the responsibility of turning off dorm lights at night, students are making an impact upon the environment.

In the future, students hope to add recycling bins in every girl’s dorm room, in addition to those currently located in common areas. They also look forward to hosting educational seminars and sharing announcements at Morning Meeting to reinforce their green upgrades.
