Chelsy Coil

Class of 2008
Inducted 2020
Chelsy Coil, Class of 2008, was a standout field hockey player and is the only athlete in Foxcroft history to be named Washington Post Loudoun County Player of the Year not once but TWICE. She is also the only Foxcroft athlete ever to achieve first-team Washington Post all-Met, an honor she achieved in her senior year during the fall of 2007. She was a second-team all-Met in 2006 and was twice a Virginia Independent School Athletic Association all-state selection.

On top of all this, her senior year she also co-captained the basketball team, leading the team in scoring and rebounding.

Chelsy went on to play college field hockey at Big Ten Conference powerhouse Michigan State University where she played all four years on varsity and won the team’s Spirit Award three times. Coach Helen Knull said of Chelsy’s time there:

“Chelsy was a great teammate and Spartan. The fact that she won our Spirit Award 3 times speaks volumes to her character and type of person she is. Our spirit award recognizes one individual who embodies being a great teammate, brings energy and positivity every day and I consider the glue of the group. Chelsy embraced that role and lived it to the fullest every day. Chelsy and fellow teammate Corey Block started a tradition where they assign every team member their spirit animal. They would consider each individual's personality and physical characteristics then assign them an animal. To this day this tradition still stands!!!”

Following her collegiate career Chelsy worked for 16 months as an assistant coach for a program within USA Field Hockey.

We welcome Chelsy Coil into the Foxcroft Sports Hall of Fame.

Founded in 2014 as part of our Centennial Celebration, the Foxcroft Sports Hall of Fame now consists of 12 members. Chelsy, Foxcroft School is extremely proud that you are part of this elite group of athletes.
